What Is PE?

Polyethylene bags, aka PE bags, are opaque or translucent with a slight haze that allows you to see the items inside, although the details of the contents won’t be obvious. Polyethylene is a thermoplastic resin obtained by polymerization (a process of reacting monomer molecules together to form polymer chains or 3-D networks) of ethylene. It can also involve copolymers of ethene and a variable amount of alpha olefins.

It is light, thin, hard to tear, durable, capable of resisting bulky loads, highly water-resistant, and chemical-free. They are categorized into various shapes and sizes and used in our daily life.

Polyethylene bags are widely used nowadays for storing various things. They are used for storing clothes, carrying groceries, and used in chemical industries (because they do not react with chemicals) used to wrap and preserve chemicals, transportation, etc. Furthermore, such bags are also utilized to store medical equipment as well as waste in laboratories and hospitals.

They are widely preferred over other types of bags because they are not harmful to humans. According to regulatory authorities, polyethylene material is non-hazardous by normal routes of exposure, including ingestion, skin contact, and inhalation.

Various types of PE bags are designed for various jobs. The following two kinds of resins are used in the manufacturing of polyethylene bags:

  • High density polyethylene bags (HDPE)
  • Low density polyethylene bags (LDPE)
  • Linear low density polyethylene bags (LLDPE)
  • Medium density polyethylene bags (MDPE)

The following are the most common types of PE bags that are utilized in our daily life.

1. Vacuum PE bags:

They are made up of thick polyethylene plastics with a lid slot, and the vacuum valve is made of silicon, enhancing flexibility and airtight; this variety of PE is widely used in food industries.

2. Antistatic bags:

Such bags have an outer layer of polyethylene plastic, and the inner core is plastic or paper, capable of releasing electrostatic well while also blocking light. Such PE bags are used for packaging purposes. They are used for packaging electronic equipment, integrated circuit boards, PCBs, etc.

3. Die cut polyethylene bags:

This is a plain perforated to form a handle so that goods can be easily moved with a great design that can be specially designed for the promotion of any specific brand.
